“Friends of the South Beach Wine & Food Festival” is a unique and private club, limited to 200 members annually, that affords an opportunity for First Class and “one of a kind” culinary experiences occurring in Miami outside of the annual Festival dates. Additionally, all “Friends” have the special opportunity to purchase 2008 Festival tickets in advance of the general public.

So far in 2007, the “Friends” club has enjoyed two extraordinary encounters.  Our first event in May kicked off with, “Wine, Daydreams and Memories”, an intimate experience with winemaker and Academy-Award winning filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola where he shared his brilliance and enthusiasm about, film, wine and food in a tour-de-force private audience.   In June our “Friends” were able to rub elbows with celebrities as we enjoyed premiere access to the opening of one of Miami Beach’s hottest new restaurants: Devito South Beach.  Friends were served innovative cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and had an intimate meet-and-greet with Danny Devito!

Upcoming scheduled “Friends” events include:

  • Tuesday, September 18th - "A Taste of France" with the Biltmore’s new executive Chef, Guy Gateau. 
  • Monday, September 24th - A private VIP tasting of the new Michael Mina restaurant, BOURBON Steak, an innovative modern American steakhouse slated to open in the recently renovated Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort & Club.
  • Wednesday, October 3rd -  Miami’s own Little Italy, with South Florida’s finest Italian Chefs
  • Tuesday, November 13th - A private book reading and meet and greet with organic food pioneer and creator of “California Cuisine”, Alice Waters of famed Chez Panisse.

All of these events are exclusively for “Friends” members – Tickets cannot be purchased. 
Membership in Friends of the South Beach Wine & Food Festival is a $1,000 per year (good for the member and a guest) contribution to Florida International University/South Beach Wine and Food Festival.  This contribution is tax deductible to the extent the law allows. Events and times are subject to change.
